A Community Flag Initiative for America’s 250th Anniversary.
Growing up in Lakeside, CA during America’s Bicentennial, I remember how my hometown came alive — painted fire hydrants, community projects, and a sense that everyone, even us kids, played a part in something bigger. At 11 years old, I was a Camp Fire Girl, and one of our projects was helping paint those patriotic hydrants. That memory has stayed with me my whole life.
As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, I want to bring that same spirit of pride and participation to Santee.
I’m launching a community initiative to fly 250 FMAA certified American flags on homes and businesses across our city from Flag Day June 14th through July 4th. To kick things off, I’m providing 50 free flag kits for residents who don’t already have one.
My hope is simple:
🇺🇲Fill Santee with US flags from Flag Day June 14th through July 4th.
🇺🇲Fill our feeds with photos of them waving proudly.
🇺🇲To remind ourselves what community looks like when we build it together.
Let’s make Santee shine red, white, and blue for America 250.
