“Convergence of History: The Spirit of ’26,” is as an anthology of music and scenes to acknowledge four historical anniversaries anticipated in 2026. The presentation reflects the interwoven histories of faith, patriotism and eclectic cultures of the United States. The pieces to be read are selected from the Kingdom Impact Theater Ministries repertoire of programs about the effect of Christian faith on African-American and U.S. history.

The converging anniversaries are:
- Negro History Week – 100 years (February)
- Black History Month – 50 years (February)
- Juneteenth National Independence Day – 5 years (June)
- Independence Day – 250 years (July)

All four anniversaries correlate with scripts previously created and performed by Kingdom Impact Theater (KIT) Ministries, which celebrates its 30th anniversary as theater missionaries based in Elk Grove Village. The organization was founded by Chicago theater professionals Michael Edgar Myers and Vikki J. Myers as the “Drama Ministry of Elk Grove Baptist Church” teaching theater to intergenerational members of the congregation.
Over time the drama ministry evolved into KIT’s current not-for-profit company that partners with local churches and community agencies to use performing arts to facilitate Safe Faith Conversations on difficult topics. The frequently requested theme of the effect of religion on U.S. history, particularly among African-Americans, led to creation of “Convergence of History.”
Since 2012 KIT has created scripts that explore known and unknown relationships between Christian faith, U.S. history and people of color using music, humor and improvisation to entertain and educate. Audience feedback will be encouraged to determine how to develop the larger series of shows in 2026.
The “Convergence of History” staged readings are family friendly and interactive. There is no charge for the readings, but registration is requested. For further information, email [email protected], or call 630-659-9170.
