Welcome to the RUEDI Vendors Symposium!

Join us on Friday, July 4th, at The Midland Hotel, Manchester (the day after and opposite the site for the MMC 2025 meeting), for an open event discussing the instrumentation needs for the Relativistic Ultrafast Electron Diffraction and Imaging (RUEDI) UK national facility.

RUEDI is poised to revolutionise our ability to observe and understand ultrafast processes, enabling groundbreaking research across 5 scientific themes of: (i) Biosciences, (ii) Dynamics of Chemical Change, (iii) Energy Generation, Transformation and Storage, (iv) Materials under Extreme Conditions and (v) Quantum Materials and Processes.

RUEDI has been approved for ~£125M funding through the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) as part of the UKRI Infrastructure Fund in partnership between the University of Liverpool, the Rosalind Franklin Institute and the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Daresbury.

RUEDI will be the only instrument of its kind, being both the highest combined spatial and temporal resolution electron microscope and the fastest temporal resolution electron diffraction system. To achieve this level of performance for a range of in-situ experiments, RUEDI will operate at ~1.5MeV for imaging and ~4MeV for diffraction in a shielded bunker, and the instrument will need to be horizontal.

In this town hall meeting we will discuss the timeline for the RUEDI construction and commissioning phase. We encourage any company that makes electron microscopes, electron diffractions systems, accelerators, lasers, analytical peripherals, operando stages and detectors to attend this meeting.
