Join the Afrimerican Academy at The Pryde for a powerful community gathering to reflect on the legacy of Frederick Douglass through a live reading of his historic 1852 speech, The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro.
First delivered to a white abolitionist audience, Douglass’s words still resonate today—challenging America to live up to its ideals of freedom and justice. This intergenerational event will feature:
