***Neighbor Gregg Moore said we needed a catchy theme to celebrate Uncle Sam’s 250th birthday. No better way to honor Independence Day than to reference the great American philosopher’s professor longhair, George Jones, and the Allman Brother’s band. ***
When: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Where: The Point, 4224 highway 72/221 East, Greenwood, S.C. 29649 (in coker's cove on lake Greenwood) coming from Greenwood, my driveway is the last driveway on the right before you get to shrine club road - immediately before lakeside Pentecostal holiness church, across the highway from the old village store property where townhouses are being built (and not being sold). Address number used to be on a telephone pole, until the telephone pole was knocked down and had to be replaced.
I’ll have 2 spinners near the highway as a landmark.
What: karaoke by co-host Jose Hernandez; and hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage dogs’ courtesy of my neighbors and co-hosts Gregg & Zella Moore, (You have to wait until the Labor Day powwow for more fried fish.)
Been hiding’ out in a rock & roll band hour: 3:00 p.m. (Ish) to 7:30 p.m. (Ish)
What to bring: chairs; alcoholic +/or non-alcoholic drinks; towels; any other food that you would like grilled; any other food, beverages, or stuff that you would like to contribute.
Note: PLEASE, NO GLASS OF ANY KIND, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, ESPECIALLY BOTTLES!!!
Miscellaneous:
1. You may arrive by boat. There’s plenty of shoreline to pull a boat onto. Coker’s cove is the first portion of lake Greenwood that you see on the right when traveling from Greenwood.
2. My main driveway is in pretty good shape. However, I make no promises about what may happen to your vehicle or your hiney if you drive down my secondary driveway, which is a couple hundred feet closer to greenwood than my main driveway.
3. If you arrive by land, please don’t block any driveways when you park (the old man’s ghost will haunt you if you do!) there’s plenty of parking space without parking in a driveway.
4. Port or potties will be available.
5. Dogs are welcome, provided they only lick but not bite, and preferably on a leash. Same goes for small children.
6. We intend to make this an annual event, if not twice each year.
Note: PLEASE, NO GLASS OF ANY KIND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, ESPECIALLY BOTTLES!!!
