2026 Timed Entry Tickets | Dumbarton Oaks Gardens

The Gardens of Dumbarton Oaks are an oasis within the city. Designed by renowned landscape gardener Beatrix Farrand in collaboration with Mildred Bliss, the garden extends over ten acres of terraced gardens and vistas, orchards, and kitchen gardens. Farrand and Bliss worked together for almost thirty years to achieve their vision of the Garden which includes many fine decorative ornaments—benches, gates, finials, and sculptures.

Entry requires a pre-purchased ticket. No tickets are sold at the gate. A timed entry ticket allows entry between the entry time listed on the ticket and 5:30 p.m. The Gardens close at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free for children 2 years old and under. Reentry is not permitted.

In 2026, the Gardens are closed on the following dates:

• April 11
• April 23 - 25
• May 7 - 9
• October 8 - 10
• Friday, June 19 (Juneteenth)
• Saturday, July 4 (Independence Day)

On these days, daily tickets will not be available for purchase, and season passes will not be honored.

**On Saturday, April 11, a separate timed ticket registration will be required to visit the Gardens at Dumbarton Oaks, as part of our Family Day event.

Refund Policy

Daily garden ticket purchases are nonrefundable, except when the Gardens are closed at Dumbarton Oaks' discretion. Garden tickets are limited to 10 per household per day and are only available online via Eventbrite. There is no point of sale on site.

If purchasing errors are made, tickets can be transferred by the purchaser to another available date using their Eventbrite account, before the original ticket date, or else the tickets will be deemed expired by Eventbrite. We recommend waiting to purchase tickets until you are certain you're able to use them.

Photography/videography policy

To preserve a peaceful atmosphere and ensure equal access to the Museum and Gardens for all visitors, formal photography is not permitted at Dumbarton Oaks.

Formal photography refers to any commercial or noncommercial, planned or structured photography session that goes beyond casual snapshots. It is characterized by its organized and deliberate nature, typically involving specific preparation, posed subjects, or specialized equipment. Bag and personal item policy

Small personal bags and purses that do not exceed the maximum size of 11" x 15" x 6" are permitted.

Inclement Weather

In the event of unsafe conditions caused by inclement weather, the Gardens will close. Closure notices are posted on our website and social media channels. Refunds will be issued for daily ticket purchases.
