Details
Parade opportunity for those looking for something to do on the 4th of July.Members of your 53rd GA Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Co. K) are invited to participate with the SCV Georgia Division in the Marietta Independence Day Parade (July 4) in downtown Marietta (10 AM start time; we assemble starting at 8 AM). The SCV participates in this event every year – it is our largest public facing event all year (several thousand spectators watch us). The parade route is about 1.5 miles long – starting at the Roswell Street Baptist Church, down Roswell Street to the Marietta Square, and ending north of the square (see attached image).
We need:
Uniformed Confederate soldiers for a musket team (we are allowed to shoot our muskets at major intersections)
Non-uniformed volunteers (ex. shorts, SCV polo shirts) to walk and carry patriotic flags and our SCV parade banner
Our parade musket team is not an “re-enactment” event – we don’t “load in 9 times” or march in strict military formation – due to the July heat, we make this an easy going “walk, smile, and wave” event – loading muskets as we walk - to interact with the crowd and make a positive impression on the public. We are allowed to shoot our muskets at major intersections.
Please let me know if you have any volunteers for the parade event.
