The Nathan’s Famous restaurant in the iconic Old Town Entertainment District will play host to this year’s first qualifying event for the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Approximately 35,000 fans are estimated to convene on the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues in Coney Island to watch the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest in person. Millions more watch the ESPN telecast of the contest.
World Champion Joey Chestnut currently holds the title of hot dog-eating world champion after setting a new world record of 76 hot dogs and buns in 2021. In 2023, Joey won his 16th Mustard Yellow Belt after eating 62 hot dogs and buns. Last year’s female champion, Miki Sudo holds the women’s world record of 48.5 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs in 10 minutes. Miki won her ninth title on July 4, 2023 with 39.5 hot dogs and buns eaten.
