The City of Newburgh is pleased to announce that its annual Independence Day Fireworks Display is scheduled for Friday, July 4, at 1 Washington Street (a.k.a. People’s Waterfront Park). The show will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m.Setup will begin at 11:00 a.m. To ensure public safety during the event, 1 Washington Street will be closed to the public from the time of setup until the event concludes.
To accommodate the celebration, the City of Newburgh Police Department will implement the following road closures on July 4:
• Broadway (from Grand Street to Colden Street) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• Colden Street (from Washington Street to Water Street) from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
In addition, southbound traffic on Water Street will be diverted to Powell Avenue from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
