Hingham 4th of July Parade 2023

Details

The Hingham July 4 parade has become the town's most anticipated and best-attended annual event. Years ago, when life was very different, Hingham customarily had no July 4 parade. Although July 4 parades were held in the post-Revolutionary War period, there are no readily available records for the years prior to 1827, the first year of publication of the Hingham Journal (then called the Gazette).

Parade Route

The Parade will start at 10:00 AM near the Hingham High School at the Middle Street/Pleasant Street intersection and will head North across Route 228, joining Main Street in Hingham Center and following Main Street to Hingham Square. The parade will turn right onto North St. and finish at Station St. at approximately 11:15 AM.

Detour Route

Rt. 228 will detour from 9:30 AM until approximately 11:30 AM.

Southbound Rt. 228 traffic on East St. will detour left onto Spring St., straight onto School St., right onto Pleasant St., left onto Union St., right onto Free St., left onto Main Street Rt. 228. End of detour.

Northbound Rt. 228 traffic will turn right onto Free St., left onto Union St., right onto Pleasant St., left onto School to Spring St. and right onto East St. Rt. 228. End of detour.
