Gather along the scenic banks of Buffalo Bayou for Houston's premier summer tradition: Freedom Over Texas 2026. Celebrating its 39th annual edition, the City of Houston’s official Fourth of July festival returns on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Eleanor Tinsley Park and Sam Houston Park. This massive, six-hour signature event brings an average crowd of 35,000 attendees together to celebrate Independence Day and honor the nation's landmark 250th anniversary with world-class live music, interactive activity zones, and a Texas-sized fireworks grand finale.
Star-Studded Concert Lineup
The centerpiece of the 2026 festival is the star-studded lineup on the main Freedom Stage. The live musical performances kick off in the afternoon with the Grammy Award-winning Texas trio Los Lonely Boys, delivering their signature Texican rock and roll sound. They are followed immediately by multi-platinum rock band Collective Soul, who will prime the crowd for the night's main event. Global country music superstar Keith Urban takes the stage as the evening headliner, playing a full set of his chart-topping hits leading directly into a spectacular, professionally choreographed pyrotechnic finale presented by Thomas J. Henry Law. For those unable to attend in person, the entire concert and fireworks show will broadcast live across Houston on ABC KTRK Channel 13.
Immersive Activity Zones and Soccer Hub
Freedom Over Texas features multiple specialized festival zones designed for all ages. New for 2026 is Fútbol Park located in Sam Houston Park, a dedicated space celebrating the global excitement of soccer as Houston prepares to host major international matches, complete with soccer-themed games, interactive agility challenges, local food vendors, and massive outdoor screens with plenty of seating. Families can explore the All American Kid Zone featuring free games, face painting, educational activities, costumed characters, and music by DJ London. Adults can relax in the tropical beer garden at the Bud Zone, which offers fresh brews and prime views of the main stage, or head to the Dr Pepper Flavor Zone to enjoy refreshing ice cream floats and live dancing on the secondary Dr Pepper Stage. Meanwhile, Liberty Park offers an interactive tribute to the US Armed Forces and local first responders.
