The Fireworks Over the Water celebration is one of Hickory County’s most cherished traditions, hosted each year by the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce. In 2026, the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday, making this year’s event even more special — and it will feature a patriotic 250th Anniversary fireworks display honoring America’s historic milestone.Following the Duck Derby, festivities move above the Pomme de Terre Dam near the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers office. From 4:00–8:00 PM, enjoy food trucks, vendor booths, and family-friendly activities. Live music will continue from 4:00–9:30 PM, building excitement all evening long.
At dusk (around 9:30 PM), the night sky will come alive as fireworks reflect across Pomme de Terre Lake, drawing spectators along the shoreline, parks, picnic areas, and boats on the water.
Guests viewing from the lake are encouraged to use caution and follow all boating safety guidelines. The Missouri Water Patrol will be on the water to assist and help ensure a safe, enjoyable celebration for everyone.
