Join us July 1, at 5:30pm for our official “pushing in ceremony” for Command 38.
The tradition of “pushing” a new fire truck into the station, as a symbolic gesture, dates back to the era of horse-drawn fire engines when firefighters would manually push the apparatus back into the station after each call. This represents the unity of the Fire Department and their commitment to serving the community by welcoming the new vehicle into service, honoring the history of firefighting, and signifying that the new truck is ready to respond to emergencies.
