GET READY, WINNIPEG! It's Romantek's big 5-Oh! And apparently, the man still thinks he's 25, which is why he's decided to grace Club Happenings on July 4th with his presence and a few of his equally misguided friends for a night of musical mayhem.
Honestly, after 20 plus years of inflicting his sonic stylings across Winnipeg, from Emotion Festival to Paramour Events and Subsonic Events, you'd think he'd be ready for a nice, quiet retirement with a cat and some slippers. But no. Instead, he's celebrating his half-century by still subjecting us to his "talent" at Bass and Unity Festival, Elemental Festival, and Bring Your Love Festival this summer. The man clearly doesn't know when to quit.
This special night at Club Happenings will feature not only Romantek but also fellow sonic culprits DJ Squid (aka Squidfood), the always vibrant DJ Cyan, and, naturally, the man Romantek loves to annoy, Keith Kelly. Expect a night of questionable decisions and fantastic beats.
When he's not busy making people's ears ring (or, you know, expertly mixing tracks, whatever), you can find Romantek indulging in the thrill of rollercoasters and theme parks (because 50-year-olds totally need that kind of adrenaline rush, right?). He also dabbles in music production, probably churning out more tracks that sound suspiciously like his old ones. And, naturally, he finds immense joy in annoying Keith Kelly – a true mark of maturity. Oh, and gaming. Because adult responsibilities are vastly overrated.
His highly sophisticated palate demands sushi, steak, and chocolate. And his musical tastes are just as refined: techno, tech house, hard house, trance, and happy hardcore. Because who needs a varied playlist when you can stick to what you know and make it loud?
Oh, and for those of you sliding into his DMs with "Hey, big boy," yes, ladies, he's single. So if you're into a man who still thinks he's in his twenties, loves loud music, has a questionable sense of humor, and will probably drag you to the nearest amusement park, now's your chance.
