As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence, Chicago is joining the nationwide Semiquincentennial commemoration with special events, exhibits, and one of the biggest fireworks displays in the Midwest.

1. Watch Navy Pier's Independence Day Fireworks

Navy Pier has officially announced its Independence Day Fireworks for July 4, 2026. To commemorate both America's 250th birthday and Navy Pier's 110th anniversary, organizers are hosting what they describe as their largest and longest fireworks display ever. The 15-minute choreographed show will light up Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline beginning at 10:00 PM.
