The Waukegan Park District presents the 2025 American Independence Parade on Sunday, June 29, 2025, stepping off at 1pm and traveling north on Sheridan Road from Franklin Street to Jack Benny Drive. This year’s parade theme is “Family, Friends & the Fourth” and the Grand Marshal will be Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County.Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County (SRSNLC) is an intergovernmental cooperative entity, founded in 2000, that provides community recreation to individuals with disabilities at the Waukegan Park District and the Zion Park District. Their mission is to educate citizens to become responsible, productive, and contributing members of society by preparing them through recreation in a dynamic and caring environment, promoting enthusiasm, and inviting their participation. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 will mark their twenty-fifth anniversary.
Vista Health System will provide free water for parade participants to refresh themselves halfway through the parade route at the northwest corner of Sheridan Road and Glen Flora Street. Waukegan Public Schools will host a picnic in front of Lincoln Center for Educational Services, located at 1201 N. Sheridan Road. Free hot dogs and water will be available for the public, while supplies last.
Medline is the presenting partner of the 2025 American Independence Parade. Headquartered in Northfield, Illinois, Medline is the largest provider of medical-surgical products and supply chain solutions serving all points of care.
